Install ESX on ESX
- Install ESX 4 on a physical server
- Set-up internal/lab network
- Create a new vSwitch
- Set to Promiscuous Mode (vSwitch Properties | Security | Promiscuous Mode -> Accept)
- Create virtual ESX, should a custom VM with following parameters
- Disk (20 GB is fine)
- VM hardware version 7
- Guest OS: Linux | Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (64 bit)
- 2x CPU, 2GB RAM (or more)
- 2x e1000 NICs
- LSI Logic Parallel SCSI controller
- Install ESX onto the VM
- Allow VM's to run on virtual ESX
- With ESX shutdown, edit settings of the ESX VM
- Options tab, then Advanced | General | Configuration Parameters
- Select Add Row
